RBKC: Proposals to reduce of hours noisy construction work

Good news for local residents.  Proposals to reduce the permitted number of hours of noisy construction work in Kensington and Chelsea during the week and to prohibit noisy work on Saturdays are under-way.

The current draft proposal can be accessed via the following link: RBKC Code of Construction

Summary:

  • A proposal to reduce the permitted hours for noisy construction work (audible at the site boundary) on weekdays by 30 minutes (from 6:30pm to 6:00pm) in line with all other London boroughs.
  • A proposal to prohibit all noisy construction work (audible at the site boundary) on Saturdays – this is a change from the current situation where noisy construction works are permitted between 8am and 1pm.
  • Further duration restrictions on ‘high impact works’, such as concrete breaking.
  • Prioritising resident liaison and communications by developers/contractors with surrounding residents.

Residents have until 21st October 2015 to read and comment on the draft and all responses will be considered and the final code amended as appropriate prior to its formal adoption in late 2015.
